Great Success for the First Timer At Art at the Source!
Thanks to one and all of my spiritual family and friends who showed up to support our efforts to show and sell my art.  Thanks and Kudos also goes to Harvey Mendelson, Dynamite Photographer, and Sharon his lovely wife for hosting me in their studio at Duncan Mills, minutes from the beautiful Northern California coast.
We spent 2 eventful weekends, May 31 & June1 and June 7 & 8 talking to those who came out to view and buy our art! Needless to say, to publicize and display my art publicly to a new group of patrons  was very exciting.
The experience of Art at the Source literally catapulted me to a whole new level of professionalism and AM I GRATEFUL!! Thanks to the staff and mentors of Sebastopol Center for the Arts and Art at the Source for an exhilarating thrill ride into the World of Art!!

Original Cut Paper Inspiration
Harvey Mendelson, a dynamite photographer and a good friend, along with Francesca Scalpi, another dynamite photographer, conceived and carried out the plan for the Portrait Project (see below). This project included photographing locals from the area and painters and sculptors reinterpreting the photo images into paintings of unusual and beautiful quality.

About Papa Bear (A New Creation)!

Papa Bear, for now, is iconic to my future direction in art. He came about as I struggled to find a new direction. For the first few years getting into my art groove, my paintings were tight and, to me uninteresting.  My favorite painter was, and STILL IS, Vincent Van Gogh!  However, I was struggling to incorporate his color palette in my landscapes.  I have always had an interest in animals (dogs in particular!) but no deep inspiration had come as to how to express the energy and spirit of these wonderful creatures,
One day, while surfing on You Tube, I found Jonas Gerard!  Although chiefly an abstract painter, his approach to the painting process was wild and free. Inspired by rhythmic music, working on large canvases, he was able to let it go and just PAINT! He uses great quantities of paint and-get this-a two inch brush! My largest brush was 3/4", and that was just for large backgrounds. Most brushes were 1/4" or smaller.
After seeing Jonas Gerard's uninhibited approach, I went ReillyStreet, my go-to art store, bought a 24"x30" canvas, a two-inch brush, selected my subject, a reclining Grizzly, turned on Jonas Gerard and his rhythmic music and let it GO! The result you see before you:Papa Bear! Love that Bear!!!

Greetings from a PRO!!!

Just got my website up and running. I can now display my art for the world to see.  Go to <www.perrycordill.com> and check it out.!This last few years has been a real journey to find a relevant expression for my art. Two years ago, I encountered Jonas Gerard on You Tube.  He was so free in his way of painting-AND he paints to music with a strong beat!!! When I saw how he painted I said"That's for me!" So my website, Perry Cordill-Northern California Artist, now reflects the New Freedom i feel when i paint.

Welcome to Art as Lfe as Art!

Hi! Having spent a lifetime of various metamorphoses as student, middle management devotee, pastor, teacher and city bus driver, I now have time to pursue an interest deep in my soul: ART! Since childhood, the Creative Urge has haunted me, influencing my outlook, my notebooks and journals and the arrangement of my personal surroundings. ART has always been my secret passion and now I am able to put my whole being into it in the form of painting for now. Later, I hope to add sculpture to my list of accomplishments.
Above is my first portrait, done of my son, Jerick. Among my favorite subjects are figurative painting, as well as landscapes and flowers. Animals are also a really big thing, so they are the subject of recent efforts. Soon some examples will be posted, as well as those of a brand new genre for Yours Truly. As the experiment goes on the new ART will appear.
My hope is to connect to people in ART and share the joys, woes and inspirations of the creative process.
Blog you later, Kreative Kordill
